Lenten Spiritual Retreat

On Saturday, April 13th, St. John's will be sponsoring its annual Lenten Spiritual Retreat.  Fr. Geoffrey Ready of the Orthodox School of Theology at the University of Toronto will be engaging adults with the theme of contemporary spiritual, cultural, political and social challenges faced by Orthodox Christians in twenty-first century Canada.  Fr. Dcn. Yuri Hladio, using both biblical and popular culture examples, will be engaging teenagers with questions regarding their future path in life, especially as it pertains to their choice of a life partner.  Jane Pfeil will be leading an interactive session for primary school students entitled "Christ, the True Vine," where the children will be drawn into a closer encounter with Christ through this well-known parable.  A supervised play area will be provided for toddlers, so that their parents might more fully be able to participate in the retreat.

Due to the fact that our new church hall is not yet built, the Retreat will again be held at Evangelismos Greek Orthodox Church here in Oshawa.  The program begins at 1 PM and ends at 5 PM with Vespers and a fellowship meal.  Both the facilities and the hospitality of our friends at Evangelismos Church are extraordinary - and the food is delicious!

The Retreat is open to everyone, and if possible we ask that participants RSVP in advance so that we have an idea of how many to prepare for.

We look forward to welcoming you!
