Fr. Bohdan Hladio

Fr. Bohdan Hladio was born near Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in 1957. He received his theological education at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh. He met his wife Tania in Toronto in 1982, they were married in 1984.  They have three children, and three grandchildren. Fr. Bohdan has ministered to parishes in Hamilton, Ontario, Winnipeg, Manitoba and on Vancouver Island, and served as chancellor of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of Canada from 2005 - 2008. In addition to his pastoral responsibilities Fr. Bohdan has served on many diocesan and community committees and boards.  Fr. Bohdan’s columns have been published in the Visnyk/Herald (Ukrainian Orthodox Church of Canada),  Hamilton Spectator, and other publications.  He is a sought after speaker and retreat leader. His first book, “Northopraxis: Reflections on Orthodox life in North America” was published by Holy Dormition Monastery Press in Rives Junction, Michigan.  

Autumn Book Study

During the autumn months St. John's will host a book study entitled "When You Pray," using the book of the same title by L. Josephy Letendre.  The gatherings will be held on the last two Mondays of each month in the Church, beginning with Small Complie at 6:30 PM, followed by a discussion from 7 till 8:15 PM.  Books are available in the parish office, and everyone is welcome.

Saints and Strollers

"Saints and Strollers" is a program for parents with young children.  Our participants include both Orthodox and non-Orthodox, Ukrainian and non-Ukrainian families, who meet twice a month for spiritual support, fellowship, and Christian education.  The gatherings are held on Saturdays, beginning at 3 PM with fellowship, followed by various educational, cultural, and spiritual activities, and concludes with Vespers at 5 PM  (which is served almost exlusively in English).

We invite everyone with younger children, from toddlers through early primary school, to participate.
